From the new academic year we welcome a new colleague, PhDr. Kateřina Králová, Ph.D.
She graduated from FTVS UK, where she focused mainly on health promoting activities. For six years she lectured on lifestyle and body image issues as part of her postgraduate studies.
She has focused her scientific career on the topic of barriers to an active lifestyle in hypokinetic youth. She has also addressed the topic of removing barriers to an active lifestyle in her practice. Since 2015, she has been actively involved in nutritional counseling at the 3P Center and the Academy of the 3rd Age. She worked for a year at CrossFit Northern Touch Canada as a CrossFit beginner coach, where she focused on correcting imbalances, proper technique of performed exercises and motivation for physical activities. In cooperation with the Slovak Faculty of Sport of the University of Prešov, she focused on the active lifestyle of seniors and their testing in Nordic Walking activity. For two years she worked in the USA in a managerial position in pool business (area supervisor), where among other things she taught swimming and aqua gymnastics, organized swimming competitions and ensured compliance with high standards for aqua wellness. She was also a physical education and English teacher at Vitae Primary School and has been teaching skiing and snowboarding every year since 2011.
Kateřina will head the Department of Sports and Outdoor Living and, in addition to teaching, will be responsible for part of the professional practice in the Nutritional Counselling and Sports Diagnostics programme.
