GUARANTOR OF THE STUDY PROGRAMME:
PhDr. Mgr. Natálie Cibulková, Ph.D.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STUDY PROGRAMME
The aim of the study programme is to educate, train, equip with the necessary knowledge and skills a university-educated professional who will be able to work within a rehabilitation and multidisciplinary team with the aim of returning a person disabled by illness, injury, acquired or congenital defects to active social life.
Graduates will be equipped with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic care in the field of rehabilitation. This education is a reliable basis for postgraduate courses in individual rehabilitation methods.
The purpose of the study programme is to train students so that after successful completion of the bachelor's study programme in Physiotherapy they are able to independently or in cooperation with physicians to functionally diagnose and therapeutically-preventive procedures and methods in the rehabilitation process to care for patients at appropriate workplaces in the public and private sector in the scope of competencies defined in the graduate profile and in the form of professional written and oral communications to convey their experience and communicate with the professional public.
STUDY PLAN
The educational programme is designed as a three-year full-time study. The school uses the ECTS credit system.
The curriculum consists of modules of compulsory, optional and elective courses. Compulsory subjects are those that form the basis of the study programme.
Compulsory electives are those which the student is obliged to choose on the basis of his or her intended major. Compulsory electives will be deployed in the timetable in the 3rd year, based on the student's choice of preferred major. The focuses are chosen by students during their second year and are prepared as follows:
- "Balneology and wellness" It is intended for students who are interested in wellness and well-being and plan to pursue a career in spa care facilities, or who want to have broader competences for working with the general population in the field of health prevention
- "Sports physiotherapy" is designed for students who plan to pursue a career in physical activity, recreational, performance or elite sport.
Optional subjects The student chooses them according to professional and personal interest.
The profile of the graduate is also fulfilled by practical teaching, learning outcomes, and study objectives.
An important component of the study programme is practical teaching in the scope of 1,600 hours, which consists of 1,000 hours of practice in health care facilities during the course of study, 550 hours of practice within the taught subjects and 50 hours of sports activities.
Practical teaching is carried out in exercises (in professional classrooms or directly in health care facilities) and in the form of continuous professional practice, which takes place at contracted workplaces in accordance with the curriculum under the guidance of experienced professionals from practice.
Part of the application for accreditation was the documentation of contractually secured practice in the form of a "Practice Contract" between VŠTVS PALESTRA and specific health care facilities that demonstrate interest in participating in the teaching in the new program. A good experience of VŠTVS PALESTRA in teaching internships in other disciplines is to find internship sites not only in Prague but also in other regions so that students who are not from Prague and are interested in further work in their place of residence can practice in their region. This makes them potentially more interesting for health care institutions to continue their cooperation after graduation.
The study is completed with a state bachelor's examination. Students may apply for it if they have obtained at least 180 ECTS credits while maintaining the prescribed structure of compulsory, compulsory elective courses and elective courses.
