CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FIELD OF STUDY
The growing market for the specialisation of sport management offers a wide range of opportunities for service providers in the sport sector and its individual sectors. The Programme was inspired by knowledge and information from universities and colleges at home and abroad.
The study is intended primarily for:
- entrepreneurs in the field of sports who want to broaden or deepen their education in the field of sports management;
- those interested in the business of sport who come from other areas;
- athletes who are considering retiring from their sporting career and wish to remain professionally in the field of sport at the level of sport activity management;
- employees of sports associations, clubs and other organizations that need deeper knowledge of sports management for their activities.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
- The study programme "Sport Management" appropriately complements the offered Bachelor and Master study programme and extends the offer for professionals who want to educate themselves in the field of sport management. We want to offer our students an education that will enable them to be prepared to perform responsible functions in the management of companies or as members of work teams where they will be valid members with the necessary decision-making and/or research experience, with an emphasis on the field of sport.
- The ambition of this programme is to become a recognised high quality, selective programme, providing its graduates with a sports management education at a level that is competitive in international comparison, and which is taught by leading sports management experts from both academia and practice.

The programme offers three study formats
Standard two-year study
The programme is implemented in a combined form and runs in 4 semesters. In the first three semesters the teaching is planned for 12 teaching days, which are divided into blocks and supplemented by online teaching. The fourth semester is reserved for the preparation of the final thesis and its defence. The teaching is conducted in Czech language.
The face-to-face classes take place during six long weekends per year (3 per semester, always Friday-Sunday, usually from 8.30 am to 6 pm), which are supplemented by online classes (via google classroom and google meet) in the early evening on Wednesdays according to the announced dates four times per semester.

One-year study for Palestra graduates
The offer of one-year studies in the MBA programme "Sport Management" is intended only for graduates of the VŠTVS PALESTRA and ATVS PALESTRA - HEI. The basis of the offer was a comparison of study plans and the possibility of recognition of some exams passed in previous studies at PALESTRA.
The programme is implemented in a combined form and takes place in 2 semesters. Teaching is planned for 12 teaching days, which are divided into blocks and supplemented by online teaching. The teaching is conducted in Czech language.
The face-to-face classes will take place over six long weekends (3 per semester, always Friday - Sunday, usually from 8.30 am to 6 pm), supplemented by online classes (via google classroom and google meet) in the early evening on Wednesdays according to the scheduled dates four times per semester.
Due to the shortened study period, participants in this study format may take the final examinations in the autumn term at the earliest.

Two-year concurrent study of Bachelor's or Master's degree at Palestra and MBA - Double Degree
This form is intended for students of two bachelor programmes (Sport and Fitness Specialist and Nutrition Counselling and Sports Diagnostics) and the follow-up master programme Wellness Specialist in full-time and combined form.
Students in the first year of bachelor's programmes and those interested in studying in a follow-up master's programme can apply. The study takes place in the 2nd and 3rd year of Bachelor's programmes and the 1st and 2nd year of the follow-up Master's programme. Classes are always on Fridays so as not to conflict with other classes.
The programme is implemented in a combined form and runs in 4 semesters. In the first three semesters the teaching is planned for 4 teaching days, which are supplemented by online teaching. The fourth semester is reserved for the preparation of the final thesis and its defence. The teaching is conducted in Czech language.
The face-to-face classes take place during eight Fridays per year (3 per semester, always on the Friday before classes in combined studies, usually from 8.30 am to 6 pm), which is supplemented by online classes (via google classroom and google meet) in the evening on Wednesdays according to the announced dates four times per semester.
The list of courses in the programme is prepared with regard to concurrent teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes. The cost of the MBA Sport Management programme in this format is reduced by 60 %.

Study modules
The courses are divided into eight core modules:

Final exam
Students who have completed all required courses and earned the required number of credits may take the final examinations. The dates of the final examinations are set out in the academic year schedule. The final examination must be completed no later than two years after the conclusion of the final year of study. The defended Final Thesis is published. Successful graduates will be issued a certificate of completion by the PALESTRA College of Education.
The final examination takes the form of a defence of the thesis and a discussion of its content and the topic addressed in the thesis. Each thesis is evaluated by the thesis supervisor, who is chosen by the student when the thesis is assigned, and by the opponent.

The programme is accredited by the Czech Association of MBA Schools CAMBAS, of which VŠTVS PALESTRA is a member.
The main mission of the Association is, in accordance with its statutes, "to ensure, maintain and further develop the high level of MBA studies in the Czech Republic", including the accreditation of MBA studies in the Czech Republic. The establishment of the Association was accepted by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEST) and was recognized by the European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD www.efmd.org), based in Brussels, as the official accreditation body in the Czech Republic.
