Professional and occupational profile
Prof. MUDr. Jiří Šedý, Ph.D., MBA graduated in general medicine, dentistry, MBA, subsequently defended his Ph.D. degree (in neuroscience), was habilitated at Masaryk University in Brno and appointed professor at Charles University in Prague. He is mainly involved in clinical anatomy, clinical gnatology, temporomandibular disorders, synthesis of interdisciplinary knowledge and critical thinking. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 publications, which have been cited more than 1300 times (H-index 22) according to Web of Science. He has also authored or co-authored a number of monographs, including: Primary hyperparathyroidism (Galén, 2006), Surgical anatomy of hernias (Triton, 2007), Compendium of Dentistry I (Triton, 2012), Compendium of Dentistry II (Triton, 2016, 2022), Clinical anatomy of teeth and jaws (Triton, 2010), Atlas of treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders (Triton, 2014), Dentist man's best friend (ALMI, 2014, 2018; Galén, 2023), Fundamentals of evolutionary theory for dentists (Galén, 2019), Somatic examination in dentistry (Galén, 2020), Critical thinking (Galen, 2021, 2024), Anatomy, histology and embryology of teeth (Galén, 2022), Justice in medicine (Grada, 2022), Basics of gnatology (Triton, 2023), Bruxism (Galén, 2024), Dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint (Galén, 2024), Temporomandibular joint disease - diagnosis and treatment (Grada, 2024). He is the holder of 31 awards (including the Czech Head, Josef Hlávka Award, Prize of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic), co-investigator of domestic and foreign grants, reviewer of international journals and member of editorial boards of international journals.
