ANOTACE

This study guide examines the field of psychosomatics and its role within a healthy lifestyle, physical education, sports, and wellness. Its primary goal is to provide a comprehensive view of the bio-psycho-social and spiritual unity of human beings and to clarify both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of the psychosomatic approach in helping professions.

The text maps the historical development of the discipline, its scientific foundations (including epigenetics, psychoneuroimmunology, and psychoneuroendocrinology), and the institutional framework of psychosomatic medicine in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, it addresses various etiopathogenetic models of psychosomatic disorders—ranging from stress and psychodynamic models to family system models. Dedicated chapters detail the most common psychosomatic issues across the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, reproductive, immune, musculoskeletal, and respiratory systems, as well as age and gender specifics and burnout syndrome. The final section focuses on diagnostics, psychotherapeutic tools, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle, wellness procedures, and personal development in the prevention and therapy of psychosomatic illnesses.
